Cooking Ideas
Our meats are fantastic on their own, but occasionally we like to mix it up a little!
Use your favorite leftover Plath's meats or buy your ingredients online, and send us your favorite Plath's Meats recipe! Here are a couple of our family favorites:
White Chicken Chili
What You Need:
1 Plath's Smoked Chicken
1 Cup water
2 Cans Great Northern Beans (drained)
1/2 cup chopped Green Onion
1 jar of Cherry Peach Salsa
1/2 cup Yellow Pepper (chopped)
1/2 cup Red Pepper (chopped)
Garnish with Shredded Cheese, a dollop of Sour Cream and Tortilla Chips
To Prepare:
Pour your water into a soup pot on Medium heat and shred your chicken into the pot by hand. They do not have to be terribly small pieces because as it heats up the chicken will shred more naturally. Let that simmer for 10-15 minutes and then add the rest of your ingredients. Heat on Low for 30-60 minutes and add more water a 1/2 cup at a time if you prefer it a little more "soupy". Serve with your choice of garnishments.
Biscuits with Chorizo Gravy
What You Need:
1 lb Ground Chorizo (Plath's)
1 lb Ground Sausage (Plath's)
Grease separated from browned sausage
1/2 cup flour
6 cups milk
dash of pepper
To Prepare:
Brown the Chorizo and the Pork Sausage together. Drain the grease into a measuring cup, there should be about a 1/2 cup. Your flour will be equal to this amount.
Poor the grease into a soup pot on Medium heat. Add the flour slowly, whisking the whole time. You want this mixture to be nice and smooth. Once blended, start adding your milk 1 cup at a time, still whisking. Continue cooking and whisking on Medium-High heat until it comes to a slow boil. At this point you'll want to turn it down, let it simmer and add your Chorizo/Sausage mixture.
Now you can add more flour if you like it a little thicker, a tablespoon at a time. Serve over browned biscuits and enjoy!
